Script for Calling the State House
About the Linkage / IDP Home Rule Petition
Find your State Representative and Senator here if you do not know who they are. Contact their offices directly, or call (617) 722-2000 and say who you are trying to reach.
When you call the number for your representative or senator, you may reach a committee office that is shared by multiple legislators. Ask to be connected with someone in your specific legislator’s office. Talk to them or leave a message!
Hello, my name is __________ and I’m a constituent of (insert legislator’s name and title). My address is __________. I’m calling today to urge (legislator’s name) to support H.4115, a home rule petition around linkage, affordable housing, and the IDP in Boston.
This bill passed Boston City Council unanimously, and was signed by Mayor Walsh last September.
At a time when funding is so threatened, Boston must be able to set its own linkage fees in order to maintain funding for affordable housing and job training. In light of the ongoing pandemic, we must strengthen truly affordable housing and this legislation will give the City of Boston the flexibility to make this happens.
As my legislator, I want to know if I can count on (Legislator’s name and title)/you to support this bill and ensure it is voted on this legislative session.
For State Reps:
Can I count on Rep. __________ to reach out to Speaker Mariano and ask him to bring H.4115 to a vote this session?
For State Senators:
Can I count on Senator __________ to reach out to Senate President Karen Spilka and ask her to bring H.4115 to a vote this session?
